    Assman General Assault Badge

    Hello to all,
Found this badge today at an antique show. It is die-stamped iron with steel attachment hardware. The badge and all its hardware is magnetic. Never had one like this before. I think it is a scarce example. Seen less often than the die-forged or the die-cast Assmanns.
    Best regards,
    Tom

For a steel badge it is in great condition Tom. Glad you used scarce instead of rare. Nice find.

The Assmann logo is in relief, on the reverse center of the Hakenkreuz. The marking can be easily missed if your not consciously looking for it.

          Hi Don,
Are these made of steel or iron? I figured iron because it's more malleable.
          Best regards,
          Tom

Good question though plain steel is not far removed from iron. Definately not high carbon steel.

I think plain old iron would rust too easily.

              Tom,
A superb pickup. I've never seen a steel badge in such nice condition.

                    Hi Tom,

I believe Mike Heuer posted a very similar badge which he purchased from Phillip Militaria. It was described as Steel construction. Hope this helps.
