IAB variant ? hollow rifle back

    Hi all,

I just got this IAB for inspection, would you please help me identify the maker ? I havnt seen an IAB like this before so what are your thoughts on it ? The hollow rifle on the back looks great, but is it legit ?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Jens

            Hi there Jens,
I think this is an unmarked W. Hobacher and a rare IAB, take a look at this link for a bronze version that was sold recently =
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=217417

I will let others have the opinion as to it being a good one, as I don't have time to inspect both pictures.

            Regards,
            Dannie.

              Hi Jens,

Indeed a good IAB. Whether they are made by Hobacher or not is still not clear, but different points lead to it.
              Kind regards,
              Giel

                  Hi Jens

I agree with the others about it being a good IAB.

IMO, although the hardware set up has been linked to hardware used on WH badges, I would say WH is a possible maker and not probable. The obverse design is completely different to WH marked IABs.

If you get the time, could you post close up pics of the catch and hinge areas, for reference.

                  cheers
                  Graeme
