This type have been discussed before and the conclusion was then, and still is IMO, bad ones.

Here is next of kin to this particular one

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

        Hans ,
Thanks a lot for the info. I don't collect award in particular and every I every day I am getting more surprised how good the copies are. This is realy a shame and there is nothing we can do.

I talked with a fellow collector recently who told me he carries with him a 'book' of sorts to the flea markets. In it he has pages screen printed from the forum of all the various IAB's, originals of course, to reference. I thought this was a really good idea. He made his own reference book.

Talk about high tech! We collectors must really use all the latest technical gadgets to help us avoid fakes. My thoughts were to have the images and descriptions available on a PDA (PalmPilot, Blackberry, Trio etc.) and carry that around. Small device, easy access, but not sure the image resolution is good enough on those yet.

I agree with Hans on this one.

If buying from fleamarkets etc, you really need to know your area thoroughly. That way, obvious fakes can easily be discarded.

                  cheers

I used to have a folder with full page printouts of every good PAB, in color. Now I use my PDA. It allows me to view the complete badge or magnify specific areas.

Down here in SE Washington State the closest thing we can find at a flea market to a TR PAB is a WWII US Good Conduct Medal or a Marksman's shooting badge. There is 'zilch' in the way of TR collectibles on this side of the State. It's all on the westside. If we walked into a flea market with a laptop they'd all think we were lost.

So Don, your PDA images have good enough resolution to pick out specific areas? Sounds neat, what PDA do you have?
