    Reverse

    Rich,

Thanks for the picture of the reverse. My pilot's badge fittings are set up identical yours. I often wonder who the maker was and whether they made other Luft qualification badges.

    Thanks again.

Yes, they did... I've seen the same hinge and catch set-up on other luft badges... observer, para, flak are the ones that spring to mind.

I agree with Rich, most positively they did make other badges with this setup.

I agree with a lot that was written in the first 2 pages of this thread regarding the reasons for collecting marked badges:
          1) Help with authenticating a badge based on the mark and characteristics.
          2) A goal of having many badges by the same maker, or all makers of a certain badge.

I liken it to other hobbies, say coin collecting. If I collect the new U.S. quarters with the different states on them, do I collect just one state? I probably try to get all 50 states. Do I stop at that? Some do, while others try to get one of each state for each mint that produced them.

I think that is the bottom line. It is a goal to strive for and achieve. An objective and thrill once obtained. That's what collecting is all about.
