    SOS report....small w PAB...spanish cross!

well after driving home because our flight was cancelled...i have to say i do like flying better...
as far as combat badges...i did not find any buntmetal badges that i thought were any good...i came across about 7 mixed zinc PABs but ended up selling 3 of them at the show...so i ended up with 4 coming home...the quality of most badges was low on the dealer tables and the fakes were plentiful...including the new daisy panzer fake...the very dangerous porsche in buntmetal fake and many types of iab fakes...as always knowledge of what you are looking at was key at this show.for the first time in 5 years i actually walked the entire show table by table...it was great to see a lot of old friends and making some new ones...on saturday before leaving we "homesteaded" on a vacant table and the 2 best badges i ended up with came to me...a small w panzer in zinc ( a first for me) and a L/15 spanish cross in silver....as far as i am concerend this was one of the better SOS shows i attended and all would have been perfect if my flight home with Alan was not cancelled...as it was we rented a car- the airline refunded our tickets (which was amazing in itself!)- and a 5 hour layover in Kansas because i70 was closed due to weather we rolled into town about 21 hours later than we anticipated....till next year

Hi Mike can you get a close up pic of the grass pattern on the small 'w', you can go to Roberts web site and see his example and the different grass pattern and position of the 'w' itself, I know Anthony has a third grass pattern small 'w' can't find thread right knowwould like to compare grass pattern and placement of the w on that one also..

                Mike,
Like yourself I've never seen a small "w" Wurster in zinc. Yet another varaition to look for.

                    Thanks Mike
Well different grass pattern then other known silver zink small 'w' examples, also maker mark different shaped from known silver zink examples--Hummmm only thing I get from this that it supports that Wurster indeed were to different manufactures

i believe the badge is actually a bronze and not silver...the photo makes it look much lighter...here is another rare one i got at the show...after talking with Philippe i find out it is a S&L in bronze...had me confused with the reverse hardware...

                              Mike,

Outstanding PAB! I believe that is a different grass pattern, hinge and shape of the w than others posted before. Here's mine http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=small+PAB which is just like the massive Buntmetall design, only in zinc.

                              Great catch!

                              Greg
