    FS154,

Sorry to say, but I agree with Don. I think that most knowledgable collectors will agree. Remember the saying, "Buy the badge, not the story". I think that axiom may apply.

No true. On a piece like this that doesn't fit the textbook badges only period photographic proof will validate them.

Please do post a better scan whn you have time. Sadly from the additional photos provided, I concur with what others have stated here and reaffirm my initial impression which I posted earlier.

No that's not a bad badge, it's a good one. If you don't like it, tell us what's wrong with it.

Jesus! You ask for opinions and get hurt as you get them!!!
The badge is just not good enough!!! Just because you got it from a vet´s family doesn´t mean it has to be original. I once got a "Wiking" cufftitle from a Swedish "Wiking"-veteran and I got a "SS-Schule Tölz" from Rickard Schulze-Kossens – both fakes!!!

                        Stan-

I'm sorry, and again this is my opinion. However if you look through this forum under LCTB you will find at least two VERY long threads that beat this issue to death. I know because I was one of those who started one of them. In the end my variant was deemed by some as fake, some as plausible, and others as real. Some of the most knowledgeable collectors chimed in.

However, I remain uncertain so I know the feeling. However, the badge you presented (and I don't think you have posted the reverse yet) has characteristics that do not conform to what's considered by many to be in the acceptable range, to use a euphemism, and exhibits a stunning lack of detail that throws a big red flag up for me. Other's may choose to chime in, but like I said, these badges spark discussions that lead to beating a dead horse, over and over.

                          Munster

                          Munster:

There are some characteristics of yours as well that I am leary of. As I was about to add for Stan's sake, there are details in the wheels, the sides of the tank missing two dots, and the shape of the gun turrent as well as the eyesockets and bone structure of the face and surrounding bones that don't look right to me.

                            Hi Az and Stan

This one is my best friends badge. I avoid these like the plague

I have seen the dicussions on these and its beyond dead horse. I will say one thing for my buddy is we had a talk over it and he was showing it to me. He does the direct vet scores also, If I can remember back to the conversation he had paperwork with this one and I do believe it was a direct score. Iam not trying to defend it in anyway just thought it might be interesting for the subject at hand. The guy knows his stuff and doesnt get 2nd hand.

I understand. Well, all I can say with certainty is that these badges leave a lot of uncertainty. So, in the spirit of open minded discussion it would be interesting to see what other pertinent info surfaces about these controversial badges. I'm sure many are on the sidelines waiting to see what pops up next...LOL

There is very little info out there about who specifically made these and how many manufacturers there were, and how many may have been made, and what happened to dies etc. Good lord we could go on and on again....lets wait and see what shows up in the future.

Better info on this badge would be welcomed I'm sure by many.

Here is a pic of the reverse of my badge I have on file. It is identical to the one Dion has posted.
