    hollow IAB

    Hi All
A fellow was over yesterday here at my place and he had this infantry badge. His Father died last year aged 90 and had a brother who died fighting in Russia. He really wasn't sure where or when his father came into possesion of this badge I would certainly appreciate some opinions being that it came in a small cardboard box whixh I will post on the Packets forum.

            Hi Steve

I believe this to be a good Ernst Muller IAB even though the pics do not show clear details. Can you post a close up of the eagle and the bayonet area if possible.
The hinge and catch are as I would expect from this maker. Looks like some solder overspill on the obverse (maybe catch was repaired at some time?)
Your badge has had a tough life but these badges are quite hard to find

            regards

              Thanks Graeme

              Thanks Graeme
I do not have any better photos unfortunately. I may trade him something for it at a later date but those are the best I can do photowise right now. I am dying to know if the box is good on the packets forum that it came in. It has the tissue paper in it also.

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Not just a good one, but a really interesting one at that! You simply don't find these ever, and I think it is the first undeniably zink hollow back I have seen. I have a minty bronze one that is tough to tell whether it is zinc or buntmetal....this one looks clearly to be a zincer. Hell of a catch! If you could give us a weight on it....it would help for sure

Sorry don't have the badge in hand to check the weight but I will soon.
