    Special Project - DDR Badge

    Gentlemen,

Here is a special request. The award shown here is a first emission (1949 - 55) of an East German, Ehrenzeichen der Deutschen Volkspolizei (Decoration of the German’s People Police) badge. From the design of the pin, hinge, and catch this piece looks like a Third Reich award. I would guess that there is a good chance that the maker of these badges use to produce TR awards as well. It was suggested on the DDR Forum that I post this badge in this forum to see if any of you could determine a potential maker by the the particular design /set-up of the pin, catch and hinge?

    Best,
    John

Catch looks like the one found on sports badges made in Jena by Wernstein if I'm not mistaken.

See post #2 in this thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...highlight=jena

        Nice Medal

Thats a very nice old piece. But your better off asking your question down in the DDR section in Ken Jaspers International Section. Lot of well versed collectors of DDR Insignia. Unless of course you were already there........ Either way, Happy Hunting !!!

Andrew, he is trying to tie this piece to a TR era producer.

My mistake, didn't realize that it came over from the other forum.

              Don,

I think you are right...it is a Wernstein L/17. I also posted this on the Wound Badge Forum and got this reply. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=1#post1808855

                -

To me this is not strange at all! Of course wartime producers kept on producing awards/badges of their new regime (if they were asked to, of course) and if they still had wartime parts (pin systems for example) I´m sure they used them.
                Interesting thread!
