Xtra Nice Infantry Assault Badge Grouping

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to share these images of the Infantry Assault Badge medaul, urkunde and photos of Hauptmann Franz Xaver Cipa, which I have been buying over a couple of months from his daughter in law in Germany. Just love this group which facilitates a ton of research fun.

To me it looks like they have been digitally enhanced/sharpened or cleaned up with photo-shop or alike.

Not that this detracts from the group though.

I own the original of the photo in question as shown. Its is postcard format, Mimosa paper as indicated on the back, and the paper on the obverse is somewhat porous. Its actually a very nice effect under natural light.

Thanks for the reply. I think what you are seeing is mint awards being worn on a correctly focussed picture.

True enough,

It may just be an effect of the scanner as if one looks closely at the pocket button one will see the same effect but to a lesser extent.

Did you get the EK1, EK2 other documents, etc?

I also was wondering if this IAB is an FLL.

The EK1 was not available for sale unfortunately.

Here you go. The pin style matches almost exactly the Dr. Frank and Co. badge

I disagree that these match Dr. Franke and Co.

Franke and Co. IABs feature a gap between the swastika and the rifle. Yours does not have that feature. They also have a different type catch and hinge.

I still say FLL. One variety of the FLL uses the same type hinge/catch hardware, and the FLL does not have a gap between the swastika and rifle.

Any other thoughts or opinions out there?

All in all an absolutely fantastic grouping. I know the EK1 wasn't available, but were you able to get any of the other awards ? That would make a great display.

I always have a tough time with this. I know that many families don't have any interest in things like this and that is why they make them available. But how do you part with family history ? I guess that is how we as collectors benefit.

Either way, congratulations and enjoy your custodianship of Hauptmann Cipa's awards and effects.
