    PABs GABs IABs

    Hello to all,

What I would like to know is what are the standard dimensions of a PAB, a GAB and an IAB.

I know this may differ depending on maker so a general idea would be ok

    Regards

    Alan

There's to much variation between makers and 1mm smaller of a maker can be a copy...either post pics of badges you like or someone may post them for you...The book "German combat awards of the Third Reich" has measurements of all bades you mentioned by various makers...buy that good starting reference for newbie's and vets alike

      Alan,

I agree with what Jeff said ... we can say that the "general" dimensions of a PAB are 60mm x 42mm, but there was not an exact standard. For instance, the height of PABs by the AS in triangle / R.K. / A.S. in track (the semi-hollow zinc type) die series is "generally" 61mm instead of 60mm. While a height of 59mm or a width of 41mm might very well be OK, it could also be a danger sign of a cast fake.

I'm sure the same applies to IABs and GABs, though the fake dangers in PABs are greater. Though there are some very good fake IABs and GABs.

So not to put you off, but as Jeff said it's best to post your prospective buys here if you can. This site is one of the best resources; I recommend shelling out the $25 for an Association membership so you can have access to the "fake" files.

      Best,
      Greg
