Is this silver or bronze CCC FLL ?

Hello. I have a chance to purchase this CCC. I would like to know if it is original. And also opinions on it being silver or bronze. I thought silver but the pin is bronze. I beleive it is a first pattern FLL. Thanks for any help.

My take on this is that it is a genuine FLL example of the BRONZE grade which has lost the bronze finish, and to which some twit has tried to "buff" (buffing wheel?) the zinc on the front thereby making the highpoints of the design become shiny in appearance. If so, a poor man's silver CCC which is now ruined. I could be wrong but that is my first impression.

The small view of the reverse seems to show the last remnants of the bronze finish at the ends, on either side of the hinge and catch of the pin.

Perhaps the poor quality of the first picture has misled me, but I would pass on it.

Anyone else agree or disagree? I am interested to know as well.

Pictures are not good so you make it very hard to give an answer. This maker the finish on the silver ones is poor. The ones I have seen the finish is mostly gone. Try some pictures in better light without flash.

                    Hi,

if it is a genuine silver clasp, you should be able to find traces of silver finish on the non-touched parts like the rearside of the pin as it is made of actual bronze, this will not rub off easily a zink coating will.
I totally agee with Will and as Dennis states the pictures are not that good but I think good enough to recognize a rubbed down and polished FLL bronze CCC.

This is often done to increase it's value... If there is no silver to be found then leave it or take it as a bronze type. Sure thing is; this clasp will allways be doubtfull.
