    PAB in Gold?

I was looking a my PAB's and noticed that this one had a gold tinge to it, where I originally thought it was silver. Is it actually gold or did the finish change? There was no flash used in photographing these pictures. It is an Aurich badge. Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

    Thank you,

    Jim

I think your eyes may just be playing tricks on you or sense the badge look grounddug the finish may have changed a little taking a different "tint" from being in the ground so long.

            Regards,
            Chris G.

I don't know for sure but it just looks as though some chemical reaction is taking place. Did the badge always have this golden tint to it?

                Badge

I don't believe the badge is ground dug as only the back has pitting, there is none on the front. There is gold on top of the head, around the weath, wings and is down in the feathers. The badge is kept in a drawer out of the sun so that would not cause it to change color. I believe I orginally bought it as a silver badge but never paid close attention to it when I received. Who is the person who is most knowledgable in PABs?

That is a fairly typical reaction to a silver finish. Between reacting with the elements and the metal you will find badges that turn a different color like this. Since it could only have been one of two colors, silver or bronze, I would say silver by the looks of it.

                    Hi Jim......

......I once had a JFS, IAB that had a golden appearance to it. It was a very nice looking badge(though worn). I don't know for sure what really causes the change, but I wouldn't be too concerned about your badge. I would say that it could just well be a bronze badge. They are the only ones that I've seen and handled, so far, that exhibit the golden hue as much as yours.

                    Hope this helps.
