Gold tank destruction strip opinions needed

I have some questions about this piece. The front looks good however the wool backing is short of the edges. What are some opinions of this piece. best wishes,
    jeff

It is tough to see from these crappy pics but the lines on the black strips go ////////.

      Jeff,
the tank and the rear weave look correct. I'd have some questions about the backing. It doesn't look like a colour I've seen before, and I've never seen backing that falls short of the edges like this.

IMO Fake, this type is an improved variant of the "austrian" copy (weave corrected...)

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I had the same concerns. If this is a fake, then the obverse is now perfect, and all it will take is correcting the wool backing. Scary! best wishes,

This is NOT the typical fake! What would you have said if the wool backing was dark blue and went all the way to the edges.
The black lines on this badge have the correct direction slanted lines in them, the weave of the gold is also right on. The pictures lack the quality to tell much from the tank but from what I can see it looks fine. The only thing about this piece that is weird is the backing. best wishes,
              jeff

IMO the gold color is ........'funny'.

Seems way too yellow and not enough gold.

My first impression upon viewing the front of this badge was two fold: One, the tank size in proportion to the space between the black borders is close but not correct. Two, the color of the brocade is off. Looking at the backside only reinforced the first impression. A better than the run-of-the-mill repro but a repro nonetheless.

Heinrich is right. IMO rhis is not an original TDB.
                    Is the tank magnetically?
Can you post a closer shot of the tank?

                    Regards Eddy

                      Jeff,

I can't tell from the images, but is the badge BULLION or CELLEON? They each have different and distinct colors. I wouldn't condem the badge based on either the internet image or the backing. The backing was just added post war. That doesn't make the badge bad. And we have learned dozens of times, how many variables exist in scanners and photographs. The lighting plays hell with colors. To me, the badge looks sun worn.

The other concerns mentioned are vailid. Shame we don't have better images.

                      Mark

It would be interesting to look at the rear of the badge with the backing removed, to see if the color is bright, with regard to a 'sun bleached' obverse?

Hi guys, first of all I do not own this badge. I found it on the web, and thought it would be a good one to discuss. Unfortunately, the pictures are poor and I can't get better ones.

I don't know if the tank is magnetic or not. I do agree with Tim when he said the tank is possibly a little large, although it is very close.

As far as the color goes it is impossible to determine anything from that as a lot of the color has to do with the lighting and the camera. I have photographed gold badges and had them look silver.

It was amongst a bunch of other high quality fakes and a couple of good badges. It is too bad we cannot study this one up close with some good pictures and measurements. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts! best wishes,
                        jeff

Hi, it´s an Austrian made post war. See tank killers by T.W. Breyette and R. J. Bender, pages 26 and 27

Look again Eduardo, this is not the Austrian copy. As another member pointed out it may be a better version of it, but it is not the same. best wishes,

IMO the badge overall is a good one with a replacement backing . However, I'd like to see a hi-res close up of the tank detail. On this one you can't pick out the detail.
