Three Damaged but Original (?) Badges

    Hello,

I just "inherited" quite a large grouping of items from a dear friend who has been collecting over 40 yrs but is now desiring to part with a lot of things. He has no computer and will probably never attend another show. He told me to keep the items I wanted and sell off the rest. For this reason, I hope to be putting a large number of items on this site, first to verify authenticity (I don't know badges very well) and secondly to get a fair ballpark value before placing them on the estand. My friend made it clear he doesn't want to ask full market on anything, but I don't want to give his stuff away either.

First of all, I will begin with the "least damaged" piece, which is a general assault badge that is missing the clasp hook although the base is present. If authentic, would anyone venture a guess as to maker?

      Second Piece

The next item is a zinc close combat clasp in silver (at least I guess it was silver!). It appears to be an F. B. & L (?). Unfortunately the zinc pest has hammered this badge. As I am talking with a couple of collectors who are seeking original but damaged badges, I would appreciate a rough value on these items if found to be original Third Reich production.

        Clasp Reverse

Rev - One can really see the awful effects of corrosion. I do not believe this to be a ground dug badge, but the condition is rough, nonetheless.

                  Hi William

Although it may be difficult to tell, does the wound badge have a soldered on hinge assembly or does it look like the hinge is formed as part of the main body of the badge.

                  regards

                    William,
They all look good to me but if not already in relic condition they are rapidly approaching it. He didn't take too good care with his items it seems.

A better pic of the GAB

                      Chet,

There are many, many more pieces to come, and these are the only relic conditioned ones in the group. I started with the "dregs" because I noticed postings for damaged badges in the "Wanted" Forum.

As far as my friend, he lived in a small town and collected everything. He actually took great care of his collection, but these were junkers given to him by friends. I look forward to photographing the nice pieces in the days ahead.

I had a couple requests for a better pic of the GAB, so I took this one indoors rather than in the direct sunlight. The detail is much improved. Thank you everyone who provided assistance. Keep watching. I've got some great pieces to share!

                      Great collecting and God bless,

                      William

                        Hi William,

The CCC is definately an original F&BL CCC, no problems with it other than condition.

                        Tom D.
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                            Hello,

the GAB is a good S&L.
