Unusual Pin on Brz Assmann IAB

I have not seen this type of pin setup on Assmann badges before.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

      Bob,
I had a bronze Assmann just like the one you show. I assume the catch is an intergral part of the badge just as the hinge is?

            Nick,
Funny looking head or not, there is nothing wrong with this IAB.

                hi Bob

This type if pin is pretty common on solid Assmann IAB. My solid siliver Assmann IAB "4" has this kind of pin. Don't worry.

I also had one just like that a few years ago, but in silver. I put it down to 1944-45 manufacture, with cast hinge, ejector marks etc.

                    Hi Bob

This hinge and pin set up is very common on Assman "mold numbered" badges.

Is it possible to post a better pic of the obverse? As Nick pointed out, the head does look strange, but I suspect it is just the angle of the pic.

It would be nice to see a scan of this badge.

Quite difficult to find in bronze

                    best regards
                    Graeme
