CCC in gold with top hook

    Hi,
Here is a beautiful item. CCC in gold with top hook. Not often seen within collections. I should be happy to get here more pics of yours or ex-yours, from both variants. I tryed to search but don't find much on the last threads.

        Jacques,
there's some photo's of a GWB with top hook in the Rolf Michaelis book "Die Nahkampfspange des Heeres". I've heard that people question badges with the hook, but I believe that the example in Michaelis's book is directly from the owner.

          Jacques,

That is a very fine original and one you do not have to question.

            Hi Neil,

Authentic Presentation NKSs must have a top hook. But just because a NKS has a top hook, does not by default, make it either good or bad. Lots of other necessary characteristics come into play.

            Jacques,

            Very pretty!

            Regards,
            Mark

Here is a 1st pattern Gold Clasp which was purchased from the family of Rittmeister Gunther Konopacki.

CCC in Gold with top hook

Some of the documents. Konopacki was informed about the award of Oakleaves in the same telegramm which informed him of his CCC in Gold.

Also, note date of award 16th March 1945, which means that some 1st pattern clasps were still being issued at the end of the war.

Wow, nice clasps guys! Now that is type of gold finish I would expect to see on a CCC. Nice gold tone and burnished highlights. Also, its nice to see the documented evidence to support that this was the typical finish even at the end of the war.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

How wonderful to see both distinct types of originals. They are obviously different dies, but these are the 2 types that are fine. Look at the bayonet blades, expecially.

There are clever fakes of this badge; I know from bad experience, having bought one of the fakes. Such a valuable lesson, I learned!
