Yes, I agree with Jimmy. From the pics. it looks like it was a gold grade to me as well. Typical for gold to loose all its finish while bronze tends to be quiet resistant and leaves at least a rest in the crevices.
Nice CCC but I doubt you will get gold grade price as it really is all evaporated.

To me the real evidence that it is a gold is the little gold residue left around the hinge and catch. It's funny how the gold finish attached itself better to the weld material around the catch and hinge, especially to the solder flux around the catch. This badge was gold. It's just as much a true gold CCC today as it was back when it was awarded.
