Any idea if this PAB is real, the maker, the deal with the two holes, and given the lost needle and catch, fair value ?

Is it worth repairing (if real), or should I leave it be?

Looks like a sc oval crimp PAB to me and the maker is unknown. I have no idea what value you would place on a badge in this condition. Hope this helps.

What Dan said ... I don't think there's any reason to try to repair it, in the shape it's in. In that shape it basically has no collector value.

A logical reason for the 2 holes would be to sew the badge to the tunic. With another sewing attachment around the base of the swastika, the badge would be held firmly in place. For this reason alone, I find the badge very interesting.

Another explanation might be that the holes were drilled to secure the badge to a good 4 lb. test line. This would explain the slightly murky finish, but...who knows?

In either case, I agree that the badge is probably not worth repairing.

If the holes were used to stitch the badge on a tunic, as Bob suggests, thats pretty cool; if its for a resourceful Third Reich militaria collector/fisherman, well now, that's just good old American know-how!

Any badge should NEVER be repaired-it makes it totally worthless to the collector if you want it for sh%t and gigggles do what you wish
