Look, I did not say its not a Tombak badge, its just difficult to tell from the pics posted for Robs sake I hope it is but here's my point these are some of the best looking badges ever made but the pics dont show itAttached FilesLast edited by scott3000; 10-22-2006, 08:57 AM.

Rob,
The orginal picture showed a copper color which indicated to me that perhaps it was a copper washed zinc example. The newer pictures indicate otherwise. Reguarless, it is a good piece for a fair price. My intrest was that perhaps it was a copper washed example and I would have really liked to have had it for myself.
ChetZinc stinks!

Chet, based on the original pictures I can see how you thought that. I compared the pictures to some of the images of tombak PAB's I have in my image archive and I'm pretty sure it's a buntmetal piece. Giel seems to think it is too, and I value his opinion. I also know that the seller (Dave) is pretty up to speed on his badges, so I trust all will be good when this one arrives
Thanks again for all the input and help.
Rob

My first thought from picture was it was a strange hue of silver for a buntmetal badge, but we all now how pictures can distort with lighting ect..seeing the bronze metal pepping through is more comforting..If you have a digital scale weigh it we could use this for a reference...
I got a epson scanner like the big boys use for $49.00 dellivered from epson and from save on scales a digital scale for under $35.00 some eccential tools for a serious collector and pay for themselves in getting data to authenticate and for others to judge without actually holding the badge..
