    JFS CCC Silver or Bronze

Parting with this JFS CCC. I bought it as a silver from the estand a while ago but now not so sure. Any opinion welcome before I put it up.

My first idea is bronce with rests of the finish ! But I`m not sure. Is that a nonmagnetic needle ? The bronce JFS CCC`s have normaly a dark brown finish, looking like choclate !

That one is of the bronze grade.

          Bronze in my humble opinion.

For what it's worth, the yellowish/golden tone on the pin would also suggest it being a bronze to me...however most JFS's CCC's usually are dark brown in finish so I wouldn't outrule a gold grade CCC that lost it's finish A wild shot yes, but there could be a slight chance for it. Either way to me it's definetly not a silver one! You will need a minimum 10X magnifying glass for being positive what is what on this one IMHO.

Thanks for the reply, the pin is magnetic and it seems to have been worn/polished down to the brass like finish.

seems like a bronze one after all!

Based on what You say about the pin I might have been too fast jumping to conclussion I'm affraid. Question: Is there at any trace of any type of finish left on the spange itself (most likely in the grooves on obverse or or arround the catch area/arround the hole where the catch is put in). If so please make enhanced/large scans/photos. Based on the pictures provided it is for me atleast to difficult to make a judgement.

                Cheers,
                Carsten

Last one, difficult to get the colour right oon the scanner.

What might answer the question would be if anyone knew the order of finish applied to these badges and what the base metal is, would it be silver / zinc?

Looking at the swastika it appears to be of a tombak nature or is this just one of the finishes.

To me it is a zink badge with a bronze wash.

I agree with Peter. Great detail on this one, too.

Rob, I totally hear You about the color vs. scanner...just take a look at the ribbons on the medals I have at the eStand (my poor skills ). Seriously pictures are one thing and having in hand is another, however I'm affraid that Peter got it right - zinc it is and nothing suggest anything but bronze to me either

Based on last picture I would recommend a vaseline treatment - looks like a possible start on zink rot above and right of the top achorn...at 12.45 + 2.30 o'clock.

                              Cheers,
