L/56 and Zimmermann IAB opinions please.

I would like to get some opinions about these two IAB's, IMO both are OK but some extra input would help, thanks in advance.

    First one: L/56

I have no problem with the L/56 a there. But I am admittedly over cautious with FZZS IAB's right now as there are very good cast copies of this badge flooding the market right now in my opinion. Anytime one of these badges comes up with any hint of pitting to the obverse I stay very far away from it. I can't say yours is bad but it does show subtle pitting and so for me I would stay away.

With the FZS why is the hinge outside of the base metal? That kinda gets me thinking because on my FZS the hinge is enclosed in the base metal. With that said this badge also worries me but I guess it could be a repair.....is it repaired?

                        Greg-

Do you have any pictures of some of these FZZS high-quality cast copies? Is it only "L" marked badges that are being faked, or "standard issue" pieces as well?

                        Thanks,
                        Rob

That's my concern too the missing of the enclosed hinge

Rob, they are your standard FZZS marked of the same crimped variant seen here. But like I said high quality similiar to the GWL I posted a while back in the "New Fakes" thread in the Association member forum. Same modern base metal with a finish that will rub right off. That GWl fake was preceded by a good version made from a more zinc like material.........sort of tying into what I think has happened with the FZZS badges....and coincidently both lineages were featured items at the same suppliers table at Stuttgart this Spring. If you want pictures of the FZZS drop me a pm as the only ones I have are from that suppliers website and I don't want WAF getting nailed for me posting them.

At best the FZS IMO has been repaired. The lugs for the hinge are missing, probably snapped off and the original hinge soldered back on after filing the area flat.
The surrounding hinge area does look scuffed and possibly supports this.

                              best regards
