My first IAB - Opinions Anyone

Just got my first IAB. It's not marked. Anyone have a thought as to maker? Any concerns with it being a fake? I have 7 days to return it if there are concerns. Thanks in advance.

            Hi Stu

Known fake I am afraid. This one should be in the fakes gallery if I remember correctly. Maybe with a different reverse set up.

            best regards
            Graeme

              Hi Stu,

i am with Graeme on this one. This fake is based on the so called "4 Riveted" IAB design.

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

                    Thanks...it's going back

Many thanks to those more experienced than I.....it's going back. These fakes just make you want to kick something...then read more reference material.

In Volume 14, Number 1 (Winter 2002/2003) of 'The Military Advisor' by R. James Bender Publications (408-225-5777) Yuri D. sets forth Part II of 'The Infantry Assault Badge'. There are at least (27) different makers examples with great photographs to learn from in this multi-page article. I haven't seen Part I yet, but I'm going to order it soon. It's a great work with maker's marks, weights, measurements, etc., etc. to get aquainted with the IAB's. This is something everybody needs to look at, especially myself, before going off half-cocked and ordering something 'affordable.' The best way to buy anything, Stu, is to ask the dealer to place the piece on hold for you for a day or two, ask him for some clear low res. photos, post them here for proofing, and then buy. You'll be a step ahead that way, and have confidence in buying, not to mention the money saved in returning an item if it's not original.

Good luck, and demand your money back...in a nice way. Many dealers sell both fake and good. You just need to learn which is which.

I need to make a correction to the above post. I spoke of a Part I of the IAB. I ordered it today from Bender, and there is no Part I distinction - the article is merely entitled 'The Infantry Assault Badge'. And it's in Volume 13, number 3 for $3.00. The lady at the desk at Benders said the article took up most of the magazine.
