Dedicated to the BEST Badge Designer!

... and in the realm of Heer/W-SS war badges, the prize goes to the fabulous Hymmen & Co of Lüdenscheid!

Who can fault the perfect symmetry of the cross-hatching on the eagle's chest (are those feathers? )

How can you resist the devil-may-care attitude of those droopy gun tubes (just can't get it all the way up )?

Well, I like Hymmen, and here are four. Lots of relatives still missing here (now where is that L/53 CCC ... it's around here somewhere ...)

    Best,
    Greg

I've shown the PABs before, but I won't get tired of showing this Buntmetall GAB ... the design is actually pretty nice except for the "feathers."

and a little bitty L/53 mark on the back of the WB ... almost makes you think they were embarrassed to mark it!

Every time I hear someone say "The Germans would never produce something of this bad quality." I think of this maker.

                Greg,
Oh yea, it's a killer PAB design...... It's as though the head of the eagle was just an afterthought on all of these badges. Honestly, you know I am pulling your leg...right? Just the same, a very nice assortment by this maker. Your a good man Greg, I mean someone has to love these poor guys.

Super Badges Greg-Your statement also is 100% correct..
My mint buntmetal silver hymenn is a true beauty, the polished silver swaz and eagle tips, even the leaves and outline of tank are polished bringing out its highlights in a brite golden hue (tombark)..

Then the support of your arguement, the one with maker marks and the "L" these are ALL private purchase awards ..This is the ONLY LDO maker I know of for sure in PAB's...So the only way to get a Hymenn was to BUY a Hymenn this was a art movement that was vogue to own and pleasing to the intellect..
as for the non maker mark hollow ones its anybodies guess of awarded vs. purchased-but my silver one supports the purchase theory further.....

                      Hi Greg,

Nice pieces, especially the Bronz PAB. As you say a very interesting design for sure, I finally have one of these on the way after passing on them many times years ago for the strange design and quality. It is funny how collecting goes when all of a sudden certain items are wanted that for years nobody really looked at them, and all of a sudden they are in demand.

                      Regards,

                      Anthony

You guys are sick, sick, sick. This PAB design blows....big time! Of course it is this deficit that attracts us all. Ok, I admit that I've got some myself. I just don't run down the street singing about how nice it is. Of course you know I am just teasing as they are truly fine pieces or art...

OK, I don't want you guys to get the wrong idea about me ... I do kinda like the GAB design, but Hymmen is hands down the UGLIEST PAB design there is!

The only reason I collect them is, you know what they say ... "never be afraid to go UGLY early!"

                          Best,
                          Greg

                            Hi Greg,

I agree, BETTER TO GO UGLY EARLY THAN MISS OUT ALL TOGETHER, I should have stuck to this motto with PAB's!!!!

                            Regards,

                              Hi Greg,

Just as you posted on the U-boat thread of mine, I was looking for this for you at the same time. There's destroyer and mine sweeper threads Hymmen related too.

No eagles and feathers........but can the PAB be worse than this KVK of mine marked L/53 !!

These really must have been a poor choice of private purchase wares when sold as such
