    IAB in white????

    Dear all,

I acquired this IAB in mint condition...it came in its original packaging carton that reads: 'Infanteriesturm=Sturmabzeichen / weiss' (Of interest is that originally it read 'silber' but that has been overprinted!). The badge has great detail but lacks a maker-mark on the badge.

The badge seems to have been produced by the company: 'Wilhelm Deumer - L******252;denscheid'. An interesting discussion-piece I deem.....but what is the reason for this?

    All comments are greatly welcomed!

    Thanks in advance!

    Coco

        Hi Mario,

Indeed very interesting. The package is a very tipical Deumer package for sure, wouldn't know why they added weiss

The IAB we normally attribute to S&L, so...
        Kind regards,
        Giel

No, this type IAB has never been attributed to Steinhauer & L******252;ck!

The term "wei******223;" was commonly and officially used during the WWI period for silver wound badges, so it would not be hard to imagine it could still be used some 20 years later. It is only strange that they already had "silber" printed on th packet, there simply is no need for the "wei******223;" overprint.

                The IAB in 'Weiss'...

                Dear all,

Thanks for all your comments....just one of these mysteries I guess. I know that at least our Belgian collector friend Pieter V. has a similar piece and he did not know the exact significance either......So the quest remains open..

                Thanks again!

                Best regards,

                Coco
