    Buntmetal Ernst Muller IAB

Well, this one finally arrived..........took far too long considering I paid for 2 day shipping from the East coast.........but I'm over it now

I have compared it to the 2 known Nickel silvers and it looks like the same die maybe.....leaf pattern above the butt of the rifle for example and the area between the right wing and the wreath among other things brought me to that conclusion. Typical tall hinge for this maker too so lets see what you all think.

      Greg,
I am in aggrement with you. What a beauty and the best part is that it's a bronze example. It's the first bronze I've ever seen. What a catch!

                Hi Greg

Well, what a fantastic catch for you

These buggers are so hard to find in silver or bronze, but this is first glimpse of a bronze for me also.
You know how I feel about bronzes,

                Everything looks fine to me.

Looks like a zincer to me though? Check out the grey areas showing through.

                congrats...

Yes the scans make it appear that way but not a zincer at all she's brown and yellow through and through. The "greyish areas" on the tops of the leaves is finish that built a patina.

Tooled with the settings on the scanner so you can get a better feel for what it really looks like. A flashlight here soem paper propping up the scanner lid a little there and presto........now you can see the yellow.

                      Ok Greg

The "yellow" looks like the finish. How about the worn areas that look grey, bayonet area, talons, top of right wing, 2nd leaf down on right, high points of sling.

You have it in hand mate, so you can see better what these areas are.

                      cheers

Well, although it looks like those areas are grey they are actually brown and not worn at all. Maybe if I can figure out this stinkin' digital camera it might give a better illustration of teh badge. But trust me it would have to be some pretty yellow zinc
