            IAB opinion

Hello. I believe this to be a later "pebbled leaf" piece by Deumer. The flat style "C" hook is rather odd for this maker, but wouldn't scare me away. Crisp example of the IAB in silver... -Ken

I thought these had been attributed to RK but hey, I´m no IAB expert and maybe Ken is, I don´t know, but he sure likes to give the impression.

The "C" hook looks really weird. Possible repair?

                Hi Alex

For me the catch is a definite repair. I have only seen this style of badge with a crimped in round wire ? style catch. If you look closely it looks like you can see where the round crimping was. It is likely that the catch was damaged and the old crimping removed to produce a flat soldering surface for the catch you now have in place.
There are several variations of this style of IAB, with only slight differences between them.
Here is one of mine to compare to. The type you have shows what I believe to be a die flaw behind the swas which shows up as a thin line, which also appears on mine.

                regards
                Graeme

                    Graeme,
I agree with you 100% about the catch. Your example is one sweet looking IAB.

Skip you may very well be right on this maker being RK. As you and everyone else knows many firms collaberated with each other in badge design and construction. As far as I know, this particular design hasn't been nailed home to Deumer. The silver one above, yes, it's been verified to Deumer. I've got an interesting late war badge that shows characteristics from SHuCo and the firm with W and umlauts. Crap, I wish I had a cam. I don't think I've seen this one on the forum, but I can try to describe it if someone's interested. --- Ken

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
