    GAB SS Assault Gunner

This GAB came off of an SS assault gun wrapper that I received in a set from Dr. Ludwig Baer. The GAB is unmarked. According to him it had been on he wrapper since 1945. THe uniform set belonged to a close personnel friend of his that served in an assault gun unit that served with the Wiking Division. He was an Oberscharfuhrer and his name was Fritz Volker. Here is the pic of the GAB front.

              Wrapper Set Picture Request

Actually once I get one of the mannequins out of storage I will indeed post some pics. The set includes his NCO visor cap (white piping) which definitely was worn in the field, his wrapper (red piped boards) w/ordnance specialty patch on the right sleeve , which I understand means he was Heer trained, his shirt, tie belt, holster, stug trousers and boots. I was told that when the trunk was open the set also included his luger and MP38. Dr. Baer did not know what to do with them and it would be very difficult if not impossibel to get them here to the states legally I am told so not sure what he did with them. Fritz Volker was a personal friend of Dr. Baer which is why he eventually gave the unform set ot him. According to Dr. Baer, Herr Volker served in the Wiking Division and NEVER wore the cufftitle on his wrapper.

              Best Regards
              Kurt
