Not good Larry. JFS didn't make this class of the GAB.

Four Rivet GAB by JFS ( Now Fake)

The funny thing is that I bought this from a dealer about 6 years ago at a local militaia show ( Cobb County, GA ) who advertises here on this forum. So once again the caveat "Buyer Beware" proves it self true. Thanks to all for your quick responses.

                  Hi Larry,

I know exactly who the dealer was that sold this to you. I used to be pretty good friends with him until about 6 months ago when he was again selling this type of GAB. I emailed him that this was a reproduction, thinking he would thank me for letting him know, but I got an earful about him being in the business a long time and he does a lot of research, yada yada yada. Needless to say, we haven't talked since.

Some dealers are just set in their ways and are blind to recent research because they think they have to know better than us since they have been doing this for 30 some odd years.

Good luck returning it to him.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                    fakes

We need to ask the scientific community to invent some kind of portable device that can do a quick carbon date on potential purposes. Some kind of a liquid that turns a certain colour in relation to the age of the metal....similar to a litmus paper I suppose.
I think this will be the only way to beat the fakers.....
Although this GAB's a fake, it still looks nice....if that's any concelation

There are however dealers who know that this is a fake and who have not sold it, even before my book. You will never see one of these for sale at Detlev Niemann, as an example. Of course there are also those who DO know and still sell it and then there are those who do not know and think they are good.
                      Cheers, Frank

As always, buyer beware and research your stuff before buying it. That way you can (hardly) ever go wrong.
You would think word would have gotton around on these JFS GABs by now.
