    Hi Greg,

No by just rubing it it doesn't come off but will give you smelly fingers.

I used a little nail polish remover on it and than something comes of that turn your fingers more black then bronze. What's left underneath starts to shine like newly polished copper. It's still finish though and not the bare metal.

      Dear Philippe,

may i ask how you came to that conclusion? After all we have small block hinges on the hollow types! Variations are known as pretty common.

I am not stating mine being original but i can´t use mine to write with! Futhermore Marcus Daisy is heavier than mine and slightly smaller as well.

Oh my god he's useing my PAB it as a bloody pencil and then nail polish remover.......uumm, your wifes I hope

The best thing you can do I guess Hans is in indeed send it to Phil so he can measure it and weigh it with his instruments and have the two to compare side by side perhaps ? This would be pretty conclusive in regards to the two at least being the same perhaps or not !

When something has been polished with Brasso as indeed Phil too noticed and you can see deposits of the cleaner under the barrel and in other places, you do find metals will 'smell' more so than before. It is something I noticed too in fact.

This is perhaps why so easliy you encountered a copper colour readily, as Phil all you did mate was remove oxidation really, not a finish as such.......christ don't bugger with her to much mate, I need a refund on it

          A worrying thought !!

Quote: ''After handling this badge I can only wonder if the bad guys also made it with more common Daisy set-ups. If this indeed was the case than I wouldn't exclude that we overlooked quite some more.''

            Hi Hans,

Without ever handling your badge I reached this conclusion based up a "Dent/scratch pattern" that is present both on yours and Marcus's.

It's located on the left lower revers part of the wreath and is not something I have ever encountered on any original. So for me the only logical conclusion was that it probably damage present on the original these guus used to make this copie.

Besides the above there are a few other issues that link them but without high resolution scans of your badge they are difficult to address here.

Here is a scan of the pattern I was refering to. Maybe you could post a close up of the same area on your badge.

              Phil,

yes my badge has that same "Dent"/schratch" flaw. But so has several other Daisy´s in my files as well.

                  Hi guys,
Hans, thank you very much for your comments about my web page.

I'm no Philippe, but I think he was thinking more about these marks (please see picture posted below). Phil, please correct me if I’m wrong here…

Nooo Robert thats where Phil clamped it in a vice , after he wrote with it and then used nail varnish remover on it, boiled it on a kettle, sat on it and then put in on some rail tracks !

Now, are these marks also on your badge, Hans, can you confirm, maybe with a close up?
                        Cheers, Frank
