    PABs? galore

    Hi guys,

Just received an unsolicited set of pictures from a guy in Poland who was selling a Juncker PAB lookalike on e-bay which I recently posted here. Take a look at the attached picture, it appears to me these are all using the same die but have been done in a variety of materials and finishes including cut-out PABS.

    Regards

    Steve

Steve, these are all fakes? Lots of reverse setups to confuse the collector! All made with the same die? I better study the obverse, sure to see these. Scary ones!
            Thanks for posting these.

              Hi Mike,

I am not 100% sure, but I think these are fakes, I posted a badge that this guy was selling as a Juncker PAB, that I thought was close, but not quite right. According to the experts it was a known fake. These badges all look the same as that badge.

One really noticeable thing about this picture - once I got passed the immediate reaction of wow! cutout PABs - is the sameness of the obverses.

The reverses are quite different and have a variety of hinge and catch setups, come in solid, semi-solid and hollow, have different finishes and even appear to be of different metals. A pretty sophisticated effort really, and if as I suspect fake, could have cost me some serious dollars if I didn't have access to the knowledge of this forum.

              Regards

              Steve

That daisy looks good to me. I see several different styles in there.

The Daisy and the square crimp both look good to me from the reverse. I would like to see some proper scans of each badge front and back.

                      Hi Don,

You could well be right, but I am a bit suspicious of anyone who suddenly hauls out a treasure trove of PABs after trying to sell me a dodgy Juncker PAB.

                      Regards

                      Steve

There appears to be a lot of small areas of zink pest on some of these badges and as others have stated, various hinges and crimps look fine.

Mind you what one 'buys' and then receives can be two totally different things.

                        Regards ...

#3 and #5 looks good to me. #4 is a fake. As stated above try to get pictures of every single badge and we can go from this point. If seller will refuse to give you any more pictures then you know what to do about it...

It does appear to be a mix of good and bad. Like Robert said, ask for better pictures and see what comes back.
