    silver Infantry assualt badges

    G'day everyone,
This will no doubt be a REALLY simple question for you guys, but it's one I need to ask, as I have my eye on a couple of IAB in silver. My question is in regards to the height of the eagles wings. I've noticed that some IAB eagles have one wing higher than the other. Is this attributed to certain makers, is the correct specifications for these badges for the eagle wings to be of even height, and is it something i should be wary of? I will probably only buy one IAB in my life, and I want it to be the right one, without leaving any doubts in my mind. Any comments regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Rayman.

    Hi Rayman,

A SLIGHTLY different height is not uncommon at all on many makerĀ“s IABs.

      Hi Rayman

If you are just looking to get a nice representative example of a silver IAB, I suggest you try to obtain a maker marked example in the best condition you can find.

If it is maker marked, you will have a benchmark to compare it too, so there wont be any worries about authenticity, and if you go for quality, you will never be disappointed.

The only problem you might encounter is that when you admire your badge, you might be inspired to get another...then another....then another....

Seriously though, invest the extra effort to get a nice marked example. You will be glad you did.

Accidentally offending people on the internet since 1997

To me JFS made are among the best IAB and good also as standalones... I agree with the others... then stopping will be the most though job

          cheers,

Thanks for the replies guys! Reall appreciate your help. I know these badges can become an addictive habit (I've been warned before but I'm determined to stop at one, er, well maybe two..........). But now I have another question. I have narrowed my choices down to a badge by the FZZS maker - although some of the silver was is gone, the actual stamping is crisper than the vast majority of IAB's I have seen. Now for the BUT. The thing is, the badge has what looks like balls on the feet of the eagle. Is this a sign of fakes for ALL makers, or just some? It would greatly disappoint me if it is no good, as it is truly a beautiful badge.
              Cheers,
              Rayman.

                Rayman,
it's very difficult to comment a badge only by its description.
I suggest to post the photos of the badge here to get an opinion of the members (If you can't post the photos, send me a PM with them and I'll post for you).

                cheers,
                Matteo
