    Another numbered PAB marked GB

After spending some time on the past threads about GB numbered badges, I examined mine and it seems to be original, in particular IMO the points in favour are:

    - number 25 is correct for this maker
    - badge is made of zinc
    - details on obverse (tank, eagle) are very neat
    - maker mark is G.B. with periods after each letter
    - the rivets are hollow as commonly accepted for this maker (the right rivet has come off so the tank partially detaches from the back )
    - hinge, pin, catch, catch plate are what expected for this maker
-last but not least the general appearance is very good

What do you guys think about this piece?
Hope anyone is in possess of a similar badge will come out with pictures for comparison, maybe we can identify some matching details that can distinguish an original from a fake.

        badge comparison

I hope this thing might catch your attention:
I've just seen a particular on my badge: there's a small imperfection, possibly a die flaw, just under the eagle's right claw, in the recess between swaz arms (it's clear from picture above), I was wondering if someone else has seen this before on other similar pieces.
Also I found the very same detail on a 25 badge that is on sale from Weitze (see picture attached). Can this flaw be a distinguishing feature of original (or maybe fake ) badges?

        Looking forward for comments,

        cheers,
        Matteo

I have checked for this on a known original and that flaw is not there.

            Ciao Matteo,

sure some friends know my opinion about these kind of badges in other threads. nothing change in my mind :

            - in yours and Helmut's badges ( he has very nice and originals numbered badges) I don't see something wrong, except the space between the numbered box and panzer in left side - I have seen some in right side - and the rivets, normally must not be space and rivets are good courved .
they are very closed in every parts to known originals.

            - claw's cut for me is not a problem because can be a little mistake of workmanship, I have seen this mistake in other abdges for example GAB of sure originals.

            What let me doubts are:

from last 2 years I have seen come out from the heat in England minimum 2 groups of these badges unworn - 6-8 pieces-, many complete with papers and packets, and nobody has said has found a box full of these.

all kind of these badges are coming unworn.

I would prefere to have in my collection badges without the 2 problems write before (space and rivets).

Detlev from last 3 or 4 years - as I remember - never sold these kind of badges and sure must have get in his hands some of these!

follow I show , by my opinion , a not original war-time piece very good done ( someone think is original ?) and very closed to original ones.

It is in the market from some years, question is =>

is it possible that fakers have learned to clear bad parts??

nobody is able to put pics of worn or very worn pieces with these 2 characteristics ( space and rivets ) ?? they could help to resolve me mine tormented thought that I have from by now 2 years!!

                Ivan,
                thanks for the picture posted.
I see what you mean with the space between number box and tank on the left and also with the shape of the rivets.
Anyway my badge has far better details than any other fake or doubtful badge posted before in other threads, for example look at the crossing lines on the cups of the acorns.
Do you ever see before such details well reproduced on other pieces?
Also what is the range of correct measurements and weight for this kind of badge?
                Mine is 62.1mm x 47.3 mm and weighs 25.4g

@Rich: can you post the scans of the original you used for comparison?

                cheers,
                Matteo
