Well anybody who spend some time on this forum by now is fully aware of how controversial Hollow numbered GB grade II and III really are.
Most collectors simply don't touch them because they heared the wildest rumours. Taking a look at older threads it indeed is a rather common phenomenon that when ever a GB gets posted somebody steps in allerting the community to how good the fakes really are.
What I couldn't find in any of those threads is some information about how to distinguish between a good an a bad badge or even information on what makes a GB original.
So I think it's about time that everybody comes out of the closet and that we try to tackle this once and for all. The fakes of these badges indeed are numerous and by participating in this thread chances are real that you will learn that your badge is one of them.
However look at it from the bright side if we succeed, this thread will contain enough information to once and for all distinguish between good and bad.
There is only one think I would like to ask from everybody who's willing to play the game. These badge are so tricky that it will only be possible to evalute them if you are able to share very detailed scan or pictures and have the tools to take accurate measurements. If this isn't the case please don't post because it will only confuse things.
I now could start by posting a few badges and ask for opinions but I rather would like to do this differently.
I'll start by posting a silver GB 50 from my collection that IMO is 100% original.
The questions are the following.
1. Do you have a badge that matches this badge? (25/50)
2. Do you have a GB in your collection that doesn't match this badge but that you are sure/think/can proof is original?
3. You know that my 50 is a copie and are able to proof this by posting an original and point out the differences.
So lets see who wins this the fakers or the collectors. Only by participating and sharing info do the later stand a chance here
