    I just got my collection out and saw that it was a BH Mayer, I have a spare one that I will put on the estand soon.

    I would agree that that is a finish and not patina.

    Judging by your pics it's also odd that we don't see the normal yellow/gold color peeping through (maybe apart from some spot onhe K98) but that same dark tone.

    When looking at the silver finish however it looks like authentic BH Mayer finish. So what are we looking at here a bronze grade that was re-finished by the factory in to a silver grade

      Dear Philippe,

      I think you are right, there seems to be traces of a gold finish on the back, the badge is Silver plated on the front, then the frosting has been added, my thoughts anyway.
