          It is an original CCC and it is zinc. Detlev makes this same mistake on numerous COAs for original CCCs. The only buntmetall examples are the special award gold pieces.

            As I said in the e-stand thread, I would be very surprised if this was not a zinc clasp. I do not doubt that Detlev thinks that it is buntmetal.

            Can you post a closeup of the grenade head? I think I see some of the base zinc metal showing through. Its hard to tell with these mint clasps coupled with the fact that F&BL used a very high quality zinc, but I am positive that it is zinc. As Philipp would say, I will eat this with salt and pepper if it is buntmetal.

              We had this discussion years ago, these clasps are Feinzink, not Buntmetall (Tombak). Strictly technically speaking, they ARE Buntmetall, because zinc is in the Buntmetall group, but not in the way we collectors use the term. For us, Buntmetall stands for Tombak.
