Thanks for all the positive comments guys
I'm still a novice on badges, so like Dennis says the trivial feature of the twist in the pin made my day, I like little differences like that....this is a very common badge and can often be found in good condition I believe (of the A & B forms at least)
As Graeme notes, when I held it I thought, bugger has it had the pin and catch replaced ? It's needle thin and looks like it belongs on a mini !!
The catch appears to made of the same gauge of pin wire, perhaps just thinner in reality. But I'm convinced its a true badge, perhaps very late or a last type of production or just 'material wise' at some stage of the latter duration of the war.
The weight I'm sure I can define to the fact our scales at home are 'up the creek' at the best of times.
Reading Franks book, the best way to tell on these types whether an A or B is on the legs of the eagle, mine has a central ridge vertically down the parallel horizontal lines of detail, the A does not.
All I need is a mint Tombak Karneth and thats this maker out of the way for the GAB series. Apart from the head being deformed, its a really good looking detailed, proportioned GAB compared to others I have.
