    Hi guys-

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this PAB. Any idea on the maker?

Looks like a flat back to me........either way a great price for that group. Wish I had the cash.

I´s not a flatback, it´s a unknown maker with ÜÜ-design, here is a brother in bronze:

            Hi Rob,

The PAB absolutely original. My best guess is that it's not the flatback nor the Rocky but just one more "Wernstein" design made by an unknown maker.

              Thanks for these pics IR.

That is the type I had in mind. Based upon the wear on the high points of the reverse wreath in this picture you also can clearly see that it isn't a flatback.

                IR,
At your example, is hinge sitting on the "hinge cage" - please check my picture for details.

                @Rob - great PAB!

                  Hello Robert,
no, there is not a "hinge cage", it´s solder.

                      Hello everyone-

Thanks for all your help! It's not a PAB that I am familiar with, and I couldn't find anything like it in my digital image database I keep for reference. I did however consider ÜÜ as a possible maker, as it is similar to some of the other ÜÜ badges I have/have seen. Show's I'm learning something

It is a great looking badge- can't argue that, but to be honest the document was the real selling point - dated April 03 1945 Haven't seen too many other PAB doc's with a later date of issue, that's for sure. The fact that it was awarded to a soldier in Pz.Rgt.2 was pretty nice "bonus" too

On a somewhat related note - has anyone yet to determine exactly "who" ÜÜ is? I remember reading through a thread here not too long ago debating whether or not ÜÜ was actually Wernstein. I have a near mint ÜÜ GAB which I inherited from my Grandfather (brought it back from the war) and I would love to be able to put a name to the maker.

Thanks again guys, I really do appreciate all your help!!!
                      Rob

                            Hi guys,

Nice PAB IR! Check out Robert's close up of the hinge, pretty distinct tool marks on the hinge. Has anyone seen these marks on any other hinges on other combat awards? Could help in identifying the maker, the tool marks are quite unique and deep.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                              Hi Tom,
Yes, we have noticed that before, but it is very dangerous path to go, because this kind of tool probably was sold in mass numbers so numerous different manufacturers could acquired identical tools...
