              Hi Uwe,

Its a good one by an unknown maker.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                Hi Tom,

Well I was waiting for you to reply first. I also like the CCC posted by Uwe very much but noticed that the right small oakleave that touches the grenade handle is different from all but one of the "6 dot crimp" CCC' in my files.

Do you have an explaination for that feature and is it your believe that all "6 dot crimp" CCC's were made by one and the same maker?

                Many txs in advance

                  Hi Philippe,

I do know about this and is really the only difference I can see in the obverse design of the "RS" obverse design clasps. To answer your question, I do think that this Uwe's clasp and all other 6 dot CCCs came from the same die.

As you aware, I am confident that the RS CCC, 6 dot CCC and the Semi-circular Crimp CCC all shared the same obverse die, but were constructed by different firms. If you look at RS marked clasps and the semi-circular crimp CCCs, you can see that the oakleaf in question had a problem with it, a pretty significant die flaw that got worse over time. I believe they reworked the die to remove this flaw and make the leaf die into the grenade handle as we see on most 6 dot CCCs. I'll attach a pic from the RS clasp and one from the semi-circular crimp CCC.

I have 2 RS clasps on order and another 6 dot CCC, that I hope to receive this week to make a better comparison of this area and the overall connection of these 3 clasps.

First, obverse area of RS marked Clasp

                      Txs Tom.

Do we no of other CCC's with this design, apart from the "6dot crimp" that also show that oakleave merging with the grenade handle ?

                        Hi Philippe,

No, not that I am aware of. The "6 dot" is the only one with this feature.
