    SS FM badge question

    Hi.

    I was wondering if the award number on the SS Promotion members bagde always starts with the letter "C", or do they also start with other letters like "A, B, D, E" etc.

    Best regards,
    André

    Hi Andr******233;

    In answer to your questions, the SSFM pins did come with other letter codes.

    I think that the following have been issued A,C,D,E,F,H, I, J, K and L. I have not seen a letter 'B' of 'G'. If someone has one out there, then please get in touch with me!

    The numbers seem to go up to 100000 and I have never seen one over this number, the highest being in the late 90000 mark.

    The standard badge is not strictly an award, as it was given to each member of the organisation/scheme. It is not clear if the badge was given after a certain number of payments were made. What is clear is that the badge had to be returned should a member leave the scheme for whatever reason. The member would also be given a small membership book in which their monthly payments were recorded.

    There was also a special honour pin which is an 'S' code, which was given to a total of 60000 members, in two separate issues of 30000. These were issued to the first 60000 people who took up membership with the scheme.

    The standard pin also came in two designs, the pin back being the more common, but it also came with a brooch style pin assembly.

    Hope this helps and answers some questions for you.

    Raymond
