    Hi guys,
This metal would be described in publications (such as Klietmann) as "Wei******223;metall" (white metal). Wei******223;metall awards are generally speaking early ones.
Philippe, I guess you remember the messed up hollow S&L PAB I had at Stuttgart. It showed considerable wear but no white metal coming through. I guess there are Tombak ones and white metal ones around. Nice discovery!
    Cheers, Frank

But of course, Weißmetall (white metal) - a group of alloys on tin basis under admixture of antimony and lead. Also bismuth or copper can be contained...
Today white metal is used for example in the centrifugal casting procedure...

        Sure, Robert!
But since I am a collector and no metalomaniac I am satisfied with the term Weißmetall. It is just a white metal that is not zinc. We could speculate all day about its finer contents or go to length and analyze the material. What is important is that it is an original badge, quite rare and collectable.
        Cheers, Frank
