David, I have a numbered panzer badge obtained under somewhat similar circumstances. Unfortunately, like your badge, it falls well outside the boundries of the criteria for the makers attributed to these badges. Like yours it is unmarked. Because of the sentiment I have for my badge, it is one of the most prized pieces of my collection. I've no explanation for some of these badges that appear to have excellent pedigree but fall well outside the accepted standards of an original piece. In almost 30 years, I've had absolutely no luck attempting to determine the origin of my badge and I'm afraid you will probably meet with the same fate. Good luck.Ignored Due To Invisibility.

Funny enough, this time, the tag looks right. Believable German period handwriting, not Sütterlin, but "modern". Believable ink, underlined with period red Kopierstift.
Btw, tag reads "Sturmabzeichen Anhaltsmuster". Anhaltsmuster would be somthing like a "blueprint" to work from, a sample of some kind.

Dear David,
I agree with Ivan, I have problems with this badge as well, it does not conform to known examples and there are many fakes of these around, ORIGNALS IMO of the hollow back style are RARE. I will post mine so you can compare, check the Bayonet on the left hand side, the pin arrangement is different, originals have the pin block soldered to a plate which is then soldered to the badge, the finish on the back also looks strange.
There are a few other points that are not right as well. The maker could be GB but at the moment it is not known, that is only a guess because of the PAB they made is sort of similar.
Regards,
Anthony

dear David,
I am sure of the good faith that this badge has gotten and here you can find neutral thoughts from knowledges and I can understand your feeling ( me too I have discovered here disagreeable informations but they have allowed me to know more right)
you have to know that the reproductions are immediately initiated after the end of the war, rather, some authorized builders LDO has never stopped building the German decorations with the same original dies, RK - DK - IAB - Souval etc., this is a datum of done known.
therefore 30 years ago they had already been existing for years similar reproductions. you can give him that you hold a sample to use then for making the copies, this justifies the label.
from the color of the photos it seems me to understand that the material of construction both or bronze or copper, which material it is? these numbered badges had been built only in zinc and this it doesn't seem me zinc.
Anthony, thanks for put yours, I wanted to put it but first I needed your authorization.
follow is a 50 GAB semihollow, you can see substantial differents in material and die.Attached FilesLast edited by IVAN; 01-25-2003, 04:36 AM.
