          Hi Don,

          Well this design is to the GAB what the "Wernstein" (trabbi) design is to the PAB or the "Vienna" design to the IAB.

          So many makers were using it. Quite a few are known but you can't exclude that thus far unknown makers did use them which ofcourse makes it impossible to link all variants to a maker.

          Based upon what we know my best guess would also be Fo.

              Hi Don,

              Steinhauer and Luck. The obverse doesn't match, but they did use this hinge, pin and catch. Check out page 168 of Frank's book, the pin has the exact same dimples at the top.

              If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                  Hi Don,

                  With this type of hinge you wouldn't be able to see if it has the recessed Fo hinge area so only the catch to do on. Based upon your scan I tought it looked quite similar to what Fo used. But like I wrote above no way to be sure.

                    I've squinted and stared and compared this badge to my Wein and FO but to no avail. They all are the same down to the pebbling except for this die flaw on the grenade handle. Anyone else have a Wein GAB with this flaw (hopefully maker marked)?

                    vitals are:
                    ht= 53mm
                    wd= 42mm
                    wt= 32.5 gm

                      looks close too me, although neither my FO or my wein have the flaw. Both are marked.

                        All the data points to an unmarked f.o. I was really hoping it was something else though. I guess it goes in the trade/sell bin.
