Unknown maker of Numbered Panzer Assault Badges

Here are two examples of a semi-hollow back number Panzer Badges.

Any one know the maker of these pieces?

    Thank You,
    Howard

        Hi guys,

I just wanted to say, no I didn't paint in the "50" on the badge! :-)

        I can't draw!

        Best,
        Howard

          Hi Howard,

All originals, nice. The maker of these is Juncker. The PAB book will show why. Interesting plate replacement on that 50 example. Can you tell us how it was done? The pic does not really show it.
          Nice TDB strip as well.
          Cheers, Frank

            Hello Frank,

Junker, guess I'm better at army badges than Luft. pilot badges and clasps.

Great Story on this badge. It was bought in the early 60's from a former MP whom guarded German POWS. He put together an album of almost every award issued! The album was broken apart and each item sold separately. Which was very sad.

Back to the badge, the number plate was removed, popped out, or lost. Where the plate was one the badge, someone painted the 50 into the empty slot. I can only ascertain that either the trooper damaged his badge and painted in the numbers, or he was awarded the 50 and "promoted" his 25 PAB. Either way it makes this a unique piece. It does devalue the item, but it's always been one of my favorite pieces.

I'll try and post a close-up of the painted 50, later today.

            Best Regards,
            Howard

Nice badges Howard. You must remember "Juncker" has a "c" in it other wise it is just a junker

                PAB book

Frank...don't mean to take Howard's thread on a tangent, but any idea on a publication date for your PAB book?

                  Thanks, your correct.

Guess I'm still in the junk-er mode of thinking!

                  Roger that, and thanks.

I hope to make end of this year, could turn into Q1 2007. As some of you guys know, I have a demanding "real world" full time job and the author and publishing activities are just a side business. I dedicate the majority of my spare time to it and this forum, much to the chagrin of my girlfriend. Soemtimes one has to live a little, so "it is done when it is done."
                        Cheers, Frank
