Trying to be a 2.6.1 but I do not like the hinge and the rivets. The finish seems to be off as well, maybe painted (see gold spill on grenade head).
Obverse pic is very bad, but probably the badge has bad detail as well. I am not fond of it, but to be fair you can maybe show us better pictures and post weight and measurements.
        Cheers, Frank

It is not mine Frank. I got these pics from a known fake merchant's site. I did not have a good feeling about it, especially knowing where it comes from and I wanted everyone to have a look at it. best wishes,

            Hi Guys,

Well I stumbled over this badge too and as far As I'm concerned it can't be but 100% original. If it isn't then my 75 can't be but a fake. Either way I would like to know.

Anybody else out there has a type 2.6 in his collection or has pics of this variant?

But start with the hinge, Philippe. Quite different. I also think the obverse detail is really bad on the badge in this thread.

@Jeff: Where is this badge available?
              Cheers, Frank

                Dear Frank,

The badge is for sale at regimentals in the UK.

I really fail to see the difference in the hinge based upon the available pics.

The texture of the finish both on wreath and eagle are a perfect match to my example. The markings on top of the rivet also match and both badges share the same dieflaw in the reverse of the eagles breast, about 1 cm above the left paw.

Detailing on the leaves is difficult to judge for me because of the low resolution of the pics.

Look at the gold spill on the grenade head. This cannot be the original finish. At least it is retouched.
Maybe the badge is a messed with original, that is why I said:

It is just not possible to be 100% with these pics.
                  Cheers, Frank

                    Dear Frank,

I agree on those stains, but is that really gold spill or something else, also impossible to say from these pics.

If I'm not mistake Regimentals will be in Stuttgart. I'll ask Marcus if he can contact them and ask them to bring this badge allong, that way we could have a closer look.

                      Dear Philippe,

On my screen that stain has the exact same colour as the wreath (gold).
                      Cheers, Frank

I remember in the good olĀ“ mid 80s when I visited his shop in Islington.
Saw a big pile of German field grey cloth... Heard the sound of the sewing machine... An then a old, small man who looked like a taylor...
