    Amazing Deschler IAB

    Hi Guys,

This is one of the badges I found at last Fridays show in Haiger.

For several reasons I think this is an amazing badge. As far as I'm concerned it's the only Deschler I know which received a frosted finish with polished highlights (difficult to capture on a scan but trust me you can see yourself in the swas)

This badge is also amazing because of the different ageing pattern between the obverse and reverse. Difficult to imagine how it was stored.

Compared to the normal L/10 marked examples this badge isn't scooped out. The only other example I have on file with a flat reverse features a mm on the pin. This one doesn't and with the patina build up on the reverse it's difficult to tell if there is a mm hidden somewhere underneath.

    Hope you like it

    KR

reverse with heavy patina build up. It would be easy to clean (cfr. 5 o' clock position) but I decided to keep it like this.

Philippe let me congratulate you with this truly amazing badge, stunning, these high polished badges are my favourites, I think that the reverse was stored on a moist underground, but I also would leave it like it is.

Absolutely awesome...one of my favorite makers with the slim graceful design. I have one as well, no where near that condition but your badge helps to confirm what I thought. Frosted finish with polished highlights, mine has the same reverse hardware as well. I picked mine up in Kassel a couple years ago. Why didi they do this? And to me it seems more and more I see unmarked examples from numerous makers that exhibit a higher level of craftsmanship...ie burnishing..handfinishing ect. In the IAB world just look at Ernst Mueller (forgive spelling please), F&R ect..... I would love to hear some more thoughts on that .

Congrats to a nice one Philippe

It´s wierd though that the obverse finnish is so darn good with the hard patina on the reverse.
                      Regards

Very nice badge with great finish. The best talons on an IAB IMO.
                        congrats

                        regards

                          Philippe:

Beautiful badge with a finish unlike any L/10 Deschler IAB I've seen.

I have two unmarked non hollow examples in my photo files. One has the identical setup to yours, but does not exhibit the same high polish obverse. The other has a slightly differing setup, and has a round vs rounded rectangular catchplate, and what appears to be a slightly different hinge as well.

I didn't record the photo credits, but if you wish, I will post them with apologies to the owners for my lack of consideration.

                            Hi Philippe

That's a good one. It's my first seeing that thick finish on this kind of IAB.
