    Two GWL GAB's

Thought I'd share these humble pair, not the best examples by any means, just fair for a not so easy badge to attain.

    Kr

    Marcus

A frosted finish example with polished highlights, I don't think I've personally seen a finish like this on the this very exact set up on the reverse.

I paid the price of a black wound badge for this, as you can observe there are far better examples out there.

I'd describe this one as having a 'chrome' finish, rather like that found on the Assmann hollow back GAB. The scan doesn't do the badge a subtle justice as there is a tad more finish left, or rather I like to think so

            Hi Marcus,

Great find my friend and how much luck can a guy have to find two of them. Were they offered by the same seller? Just asking because if they were I could image that they spend there whole life together. One on the parade uniform and the other on the battle dress

As far as I'm concerned both received the same finish but on number two almost nothing is left of that typical mat silver GWL finish.

They were Phil yes, I like the idea to imagine them being 'pair' perhaps ! I'll bring them over in April and you can ponder over them if you like, I could swear mate they have different finishes, but you know me very well mate, I have bugger all idea

                  Hi Marcus,

Well if I look at the reverse of both badges I can't see any difference. Take in to account that wear will alter the look of a finish. Just took a look in Frank's book and they indeed came in two different finish variants but the first one in Franks book has more of a bright plated finish and the reverse looks nothing like the second one you posted..

Oh well never mind, bring them along and we'll have something to look at while waiting for dinner in the Steak House

                            Marcus:

Congratulations on your new acquisitions. These are tough to find in general but that first one is just fantastic.

One of these days I hope to own one as well....until then I have high hopes for the SOS show.

                            Nice score!!
