Thanks to everybody who responded about my PAB...Frank, Robert and Philippe here are more pix as you requested...the hinge and catch are held on by brass solder...I have seen brass solder used on early SS EM/NCO belt buckles.

Philippe...the hinge and catch look just like the first badge you posted.

    Thanks,

    John

            5. that is just dried old polish or something of that nature behind the eagles head, not oxidation, John

              Hi John,

Txs for the additional pics. Difficult to explain this set-up based upon what we call textbook BM Wurster but that being said I have no reason to doubt its authenticity.

Based upon your first picture this badge also seems to have received a thicker than usual finish, this is in line with the first badge I posted. Not really the texture we are used to see.

Hi Philippe...thank you very much for the information...what do you mean though by "thicker than usual finish"? John

                  John,
Thanks for your pictures. As Philippe already said, this is a great looking, original badge with very interesting hardware variant. As for the reason why this known from zinc badges hardware is present on the BM badge, we can only guess, but this makes your badge only more desirable IMO.

                    Hi Robert:

Thank you for your opinion. I remember when I got the piece I too was curious about the catch as I remembered that you would usually see these on zincers or on repros...but the badge came from a good source and just looked right. I am glad I picked up the piece back when I did. It is indeed an interesting configuration.

                      Philippe:

One difference I do notice between the first badge you posted and the badge I posted is the pin on your badge appears to be steel as it has what appears to be some rust...my pin appears to be of nickel as it has some bending and the look of a nickel pin that you see on some of the early bronze PABs, thanks, John

                          Hi John,

Well now that I think about it the thing I probably noticed is that your badge and the first one I posted seem to have "A" finish. These Wursters normally only have that dark coating covering the exposed buntmetal but no real finish.
