    Hollowback Buntmettal Pab Question

    Hello All,

For Hollowback Buntmetal Pab,did They Make Ones With A Question "?" Catch But With A Baseplate? Is This Acceptable? Any Pics Of A Few Would Be Appreciated.

    Thanks Tom

    Tom,
It would be very unlikely that you would find a base plate on a buntmetal PAB. The use of base plates was almost always found on zinc badges. I have never seen a buntmetal PAB with a base plate. That does not mean that there may be one lurking out there however....

It could be a repair too. Best to see some pics.

          HI fellow members:

Here is one that I have that looks okay to me. What is the opinion on this piece? They did have base plates on early GABS.

There are sometimes catch plates on early Buntmetal Hollow back F&R design IAB's if I'm not mistaken.

                Hi John

its obvious looks like Wurster PAB, but catch and hinge are strange to me.

There a couple of Wursters with a catch plate. That hinge is new to me though, do you have better pics, John?
                  Cheers, Frank

                      HI John,
as Frank said, could you please post "top" picture of the hinge?
I have seen similar looking hinge on the unmarked solid zinc KWM's before. Is hinge from your badge the same as posted by me?...

Sure, Robert, this hinge is known from more Wurster awards than just the PAB, but I have never seen it on a Tombak PAB by Wurster.
                        Cheers, Frank

                            Hi Guys,

There indeed are some strange set-up variants to be found on these Wursters. Certainly the hinge doesn't seem to make much sense on the early BM badges since we know Wurster kept using the block hinge for a very long time even on there zinc production.

I can only imagin that these variant's can be explained as a result of a tempory shortage of the "classic" hardware.

John I also would like to see a close up of the catch. Does it match one of these two variants?

one more but this time in combination with the familiar little block hinge.
