    F&R/BH Mayer design IAB

    Hi guys,

Today this tombak IAB came in, I really like the badge, and especially with
    this kind of set up.

But there's something that bothers me, the cut ou between the swastika
and the gun, it's been done very sloppy

    I would appreciate your input

And here's that rather sloppy cut out from which I hope I don't have to worry about

            Hi Giel,

            Very nice example

I wouldn't worry about the cut-out. This IAB type is made out of very thin buntmetal making the cut-out look a bit fragile.

Thanks for clearing that up Philippe, I would strongly doubt it would have been a fake, I had a good feeling of the badge

Great badge, most of these are marked L/18, although the design is more the Frank & Reif one.
                Cheers, Frank

Frank, i would say most of them are unmarked, because there is only the one in your collection with the L/18 pin
                  Best regards, Andreas

Well, I have 4 marked ones in my files and three unmarked ones. Ask Sven, he has got a marked one. Same phenomenon with the GAB of this kind, most marked L/18 on the pin. Maybe it is about 50/50, but marked ones are not more rare than the unmarked ones.
                    Cheers, Frank

Frank, do we really talk about the IAB above ???

Or do we talk about this IAB (picture from Sven):

Ak - thats a lovely badge, are you saying that has the L/18 on the pin. It does have the BH Mayer design.

Giel - Awesome badge and I agree with you a very nice set up. Looks like you are picking up some nice IABs lately

                        regards

Graeme - i took a picture from Sven out of the IAB database, i don't know if this badge has the L/18 on it's pin but i know that Sven has such a "classic BH Mayer Desin" IAB with the rare L/18 mark on the pin.

I would be surprised if he has the F&R design with the L/18 on the pin, too .... that's why i asked Frank if we are talking about the F&R or BHM design.
                          Best regards, Andreas

I'm pretty sure Ak is correct, That is Sven's L/18 marked badge featuring the BH Mayer obverse design. The badge that started the thread is a F&R obverse design?

Frank are you saying there are badges like the one that started this thread that are marked L/18 in your files?
