May I ask how much it cost you?
You may. At least this will make everybody feel better to know I did not grab it from an old man for nothing. Badge and case cost me 3500.- EUR. Worn APBs are much "cheaper", but really mint condition and quality has its price. If you have the money in hand and want to buy another one in this quality it is practically unobtainable. It is from one of the smaller dealers with no internet presence, who had this in his safe for a couple of years, knowing very well that prices for supermint items will climb fast. He found his victim but it "hurt so good" he may hit me again. I will have to part with a couple of items from my collection to make up for this.

@Mark: just when one thinks to have obtained a unique condition item you come out of the closet! Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh, zis kannot be!!!!!!Schweinehund!!!!!!

Frank, its not the price that counts but the joy it gives you when you look at it and hold it. Women are much more expensive and they don't stay mint over time. Great badge.

          Beautiful badge!!

Too bad the rest of the grouping got away...do you know where/who got it?

And...I believe this is one of those times where a high price is justified. This thing is like time travel.

          Congrats again!

No, the rest was sold years ago and the dealer only kept this item in his safe. He thinks he might have photocopies of the award docs somewhere, so maybe I can at least get hold of the name of the recipient.

Very nice badge (probably the first I have seen so mint and with the original catch still in place). Congratulations Frank.

              regards,

For such a beautiful badge as this, I'm not surprised at all that it was very expensive. It's worth every cent

                              Frank,

I forgot to ask, is yours the later of the second pattern badges? The type with the thicker wreath? Eric referenced the two types , in a thread, way back when.

                                Dear Marc,

It is the wreath I am used to see on these. Having never noticed that difference myself (I only seperate between first pattern Alu and second pattern Alu), and comparing to other war badges, I would say the wreath is not what one would call thick. But also not as thin as a first pattern Juncker pilot badge.
                                Cheers, Frank
